Armenian men’s chess team defeats Azerbaijan

The Armenian men’s chess team has defeated Azerbaijan in the ninth round of the World Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

In the ninth round of the 46th Chess Olympiad, Armenia beat Azerbaijan 2.5-1.5.

Grandmaster Gabriel Sargissian secured the decisive point for the team by defeating Grandmaster Rauf Mamedov.

The games of Grandmasters Haik Martirosyan, Robert Hovhannisyan and Shant Sargsyan ended in draws.

After nine rounds, the Armenian women’s team has 15 team points out of a possible 18, with six wins and three draws.
