Ucom press release

Ucom continues to implement its large-scale mobile network development and modernization program, steadily expanding access to 5G coverage and improving connectivity across Armenia.

As a result of the ongoing modernization of its network infrastructure, Ucom currently provides the widest 5G coverage in Armenia, bringing next-generation connectivity not only to Yerevan but also to remote communities. The 5G network is now available in 48 cities and more than 600 settlements, as well as along major highways and at border crossing points, providing reliable mobile connectivity to 94.6% of the population.

Network development goes beyond the deployment of new 5G base stations and also includes the phased modernization of existing infrastructure, increasing network capacity, and ongoing network performance optimization. These efforts enable the network to handle growing data traffic, deliver higher speeds, and maintain reliable connectivity, particularly in high-traffic areas.

“For Ucom, developing 5G is not simply about adding new coverage areas to the map. People are increasingly relying on mobile internet for work, education, entertainment, travel, and everyday services, and the network needs to evolve ahead of these changing demands. That is why we continue to invest not only in expanding coverage but also in improving the overall quality and capabilities of our network. Our goal is to build infrastructure that is ready to meet not only today’s digital needs, but also those of the years ahead,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.

Collaboration with leading global technology companies is another important pillar of Ucom’s network development strategy. The company continues its cooperation with Nokia on next-generation telecommunications technologies, including the further development of 5G, network automation, the application of artificial intelligence, and future autonomous networking solutions.

The cooperation between Ucom and Nokia is aimed not only at expanding the technical capabilities of the existing network, but also at building infrastructure that can rapidly adapt to growing data consumption, the development of new digital services, and meet future technological requirements.
