The Armenian Prime Minister’s Office has warned of a renewed fake news campaign targeting PM Nikol Pashinyan.
Several social media accounts have been spreading fabricated quotes attributed to Pashinyan.
In particular, several social media accounts with Kazakh names shared posts on Facebook and Threads containing statements allegedly made in the context of Armenia’s relations with Russia, a referendum on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and ongoing processes with Azerbaijan, attributing them to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
In response to an Armenpress inquiry, the Prime Minister’s Office described the attribution of those statements to the Prime Minister as false and disinformation.
“The statements attributed to the Prime Minister of Armenia on some accounts are disinformation and false. Prime Minister Pashinyan has never made such a statement,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.
