A court has approved pre-trial detention for former State Revenue Committee (SRC) chief Gagik Khachatryan, the Investigative Committee announced Wednesday, a day after the former tax chief was arrested on bribery and money laundering charges.
Khachatryan served as SRC chairman from 2008 to 2014 and as finance minister from 2014 to 2016 under then-President Serzh Sargsyan.
The charges involve alleged bribe-taking, embezzlement, illegal disposal of property, and concealment of the criminal origin of money during his time in office.
