President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with Ishkhan Zakaryan, President of the World Committee of the Pan-Armenian Games.

Zakaryan presented the President with the Committee’s work ahead of the upcoming Pan-Armenian Games, as well as the planned initiatives and programs, Khachaturyan’s office said in a readout.

The President and Ishkhan Zakaryan discussed the preparations for the Pan-Armenian Games, emphasizing the Games’ importance not only from a sporting perspective, but also in terms of strengthening Armenia–Diaspora ties, pan-Armenian unity, and the development of ties among young people.

Ishkhan Zakaryan also presented details of the planned Pan-Armenian Games Sports Village project in the area adjacent to the Jrvezh Forest Park, which is being implemented with the support of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. It was noted that the groundbreaking ceremony for the village is planned to take place in the near future.

The planned Sports Village will be a multifunctional complex that, during the Pan-Armenian Games, will serve the purposes of accommodating participants and organizing the Games, while outside the Games it will continue to operate as a permanent platform for youth, sports, and Armenia–Diaspora cooperation.

It was emphasized that the village will make it possible to host young people from Armenia and the Diaspora throughout the year to implement joint educational, cultural, sports, youth, and other programs. It can become a permanent setting for young people arriving from different countries to meet, communicate, and cooperate, creating new ties and initiatives, as well as a good platform for pan-Armenian initiatives and programs implemented jointly with and by the “Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund.

During the meeting, the role of the Pan-Armenian Games as an important platform for bringing together Armenians from Armenia and the Diaspora, strengthening ties between different communities, and promoting the involvement of the younger generation was emphasized.

Initiatives aimed at the further development and expansion of the Pan-Armenian Games were also discussed.
