A series of events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence will be held in various communities across the country. The Armenian government has allocated more than 1.3 billion drams ($3.57 million) for organizing the events.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan presented the planned events at the August 27 Cabinet meeting.
“The purpose of the events is to properly assess and promote the 35-year journey of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, emphasize the importance of the achievements of independent statehood, and present high-quality cultural events to the public. To this end, a number of cultural and concert events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia are planned to be held in Yerevan and the provinces of the Republic of Armenia by the Hovhannes Tumanyan National Puppet Theatre, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, the Armenian State Jazz Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, as well as Background Production LLC,” the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport said during the meeting.
The events will address the historical significance of Armenia’s independence, the 35-year path of the independent Republic of Armenia, its achievements and development prospects, as well as emphasize the importance of preserving, strengthening and further developing statehood.
Andreasyan said that a concert titled “Independence Day in Kapan” will be held in Kapan, featuring the musical groups Lav Eli, Reincarnation and Nemra. The event is scheduled for September 19, 2026, with around 10,000–12,000 spectators expected to attend.
In Vanadzor, the “Symphonic Rock in Vanadzor” project will be held, featuring the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Gianluca Marcianò. The event is scheduled for September 18, 2026, with around 4,000–5,000 spectators expected to attend.
In Gyumri, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia will hold a concert dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, with around 7,000 spectators expected to attend.
In Ijevan, the “Rhythm of Independence in Ijevan” concert will be held. It is scheduled for September 21, 2026, at the central (Fountains) Square in Ijevan, with around 3,000 spectators expected to attend.
An open-air festive concert dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence will be held at Republic Square in Yerevan. It will consist of two main parts: a historical-cultural performance and a concert program dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the declaration of the independence of the Republic of Armenia.
The historical-cultural performance will be based on a concept drawing on the motifs of the fairy tale and legend “Hazaran Blbul.” The concert program is planned to feature renowned and popular Armenian artists, musical groups, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and the Hovhannes Tchekidjian National Academic Choir of Armenia, including Tata Simonyan, Arman Hovhannisyan, Iveta Mukuchyan, Liparit Avetisyan, Gevorg Hakobyan, Aram MP3, Karen-Sevak Band and other performers.
The event is scheduled to take place at Republic Square in Yerevan on September 21, 2026, with around 40,000 spectators expected to attend.
