Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan received a delegation led by US Chargé d’Affaires in Armenia David Allen, the Ministry of Justice said.

Galyan welcomed Allen to the Ministry of Justice and praised the high level of cooperation established between Armenia and the United States.

The minister also stressed the importance of further developing bilateral cooperation, including in the context of implementing the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project.

The sides discussed possible areas for further cooperation, including within the framework of a programme to be implemented by the US Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Office.

Turning to priorities in the justice sector, Galyan stressed the importance of developing a new justice sector strategy, which, among other issues, will address the fight against corruption, strengthening the protection of human rights and reforms to the judicial and legal system.

The meeting also covered issues related to arbitration and mediation institutions, mutual legal assistance and other matters of mutual interest.

Galyan also invited Allen to the annual Arbitration Week event to be held in Armenia in September. Allen thanked her for the invitation and expressed interest in the further development of the sector and possible cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue and expand cooperation in the justice sector.
