Thailand is interested in launching talks with Russia as soon as possible on a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow has said, according to the TASS news agency.
“We are very interested in starting negotiations with Russia on a free trade agreement between Thailand and the Eurasian Economic Union. Perhaps, this is one of the most important issues on the agenda of my visit,” he said in an interview with the Russian news agency.
Phuangketkeow noted that he discussed the issue with his counterparts during his visit to Russia from August 12 to 15 and expressed hope that the talks would accelerate the process of concluding the agreement.
“We hope that the discussions held will provide the necessary impetus to the process, and that we will be able to start negotiations on a free trade agreement between Thailand and the EAEU as soon as possible. Such processes usually take considerable time, but we hope that in this case we will be able to accelerate the process as much as possible,” he stressed.
