Major General Aram Hovhannisyan, a former police chief who led the national police force and served as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs from 2023 until 2025, has been appointed the new Chief of the Military Police, replacing Major General Ashot Zakaryan.
The appointment was formalized by President Vahagn Khachaturyan on the recommendation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The reshuffle was previously announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following the latest non-combat death in the Armenian military, which was allegedly a hazing-related suicide.
