Türkiye reduced its purchases of oil supplied from Russian ports in July and plans to cut volumes further in August.
The move followed Ukrainian drone attacks that disrupted exports from Russian terminals on the Black Sea, Deutsche Welle reports.
Ukraine stepped up its attacks in July, leading to a week-long suspension of exports from the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal and disruption to loading operations at the port of Novorossiysk. As a result, the volume of oil supplied fell by one-fifth in July.
Türkiye, a major buyer of CPC Blend, Kazakhstan’s KEBCO and Urals crude, received only about 900,000 tonnes of oil from Russian ports in July, compared with 1.2 million tonnes in June.
Türkiye is expected to receive about 200,000 tonnes of oil from Russia’s Black Sea ports in August. Two tankers are scheduled to carry Kazakhstan’s KEBCO crude.
No shipments of CPC Blend or Urals crude to Türkiye are currently scheduled. Türkiye is diversifying its supplies and is also importing crude oil from Brazil and Guyana.
