An assassination attempt has been carried out in Yekaterinburg against Vladimir Tkachuk, chief executive of UralDronZavod, the Russian company that manufactures the Upyr unmanned aerial vehicles. He is in a serious condition.
TASS reported the incident, citing a source in the emergency services.
A Mercedes car believed to have been transporting Tkachuk exploded. He has been admitted to an intensive care unit.
Tkachuk’s bodyguard was killed in the explosion.
A criminal investigation has been launched.
Founded in 2022, UralDronZavod manufactures its own Upyr unmanned aerial vehicles, which are used by the Russian military in the war against Ukraine.
