A delegation led by Armen Kotolyan, head of Armenia’s Market Surveillance Inspection Body, paid an official visit to Bangkok from July 20 to 25, 2026, at the invitation of Thailand’s Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB).
According to the Market Surveillance Inspection Body, the visit included discussions on consumer rights protection, non-food product safety, market surveillance, digitalisation, e-commerce, emerging technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence, and the development of international cooperation.
The Armenian delegation presented the activities and key areas of oversight carried out by the Market Surveillance Inspection Body, while the Thai side outlined its work and the challenges it faces in the field of consumer protection. The parties discussed opportunities for exchanging information on dangerous products, improving risk management systems, strengthening professional capacities and sharing expertise.
The meeting also addressed prospects for expanding cooperation between Armenia and Thailand, including opportunities to facilitate the entry of Armenian products into Asian markets. One of the key outcomes of the visit was a proposal by Thailand’s Office of the Consumer Protection Board to initiate the process of signing a memorandum of understanding with Armenia’s Market Surveillance Inspection Body. The sides also discussed the possibility of a visit by the Thai delegation to Armenia to further develop bilateral cooperation.
The parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation to promote product safety and the adoption of international best practices in market surveillance.
