Prosecutor General of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan received on Tuesday a delegation led by Prosecutor General of Lithuania Nida Grunskienė.
The delegation arrived in Armenia to participate in the high-level international conference titled “Tracing Illegally Acquired Assets: Criminal Prosecution, Asset Recovery and Management of Confiscated Property, and Strengthening a Victim-Centered Approach in Criminal Justice,” to be held within the framework of the Armenian Platform for European Prosecutors’ Dialogue (APEPD), Vardapetyan’s office said in a press release.
Prosecutor General Vardapetyan thanked her Lithuanian counterparts for their active participation over the years in international conferences initiated by the Prosecutor General’s Office and noted that their professional contributions during the high-level conferences held in Armenia in 2023, 2024, and 2025 significantly enhanced the quality of sectoral discussions.
The Prosecutor General of Armenia also congratulated Nida Grunskienė on her re-election as Prosecutor General of Lithuania, expressing confidence that her professional experience and leadership skills would continue to contribute to strengthening the rule of law and ensuring the effective functioning of the prosecution service.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the long-standing and effective cooperation established between the prosecution services of Armenia and Lithuania. It was emphasized that the two countries have a strong treaty-based framework for international legal cooperation in criminal proceedings, while the memorandum of understanding signed in 2023 has provided new impetus for deepening cooperation in the areas of criminal justice, human rights protection, and the rule of law.
Speaking about continuous professional training for prosecutors, Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan presented the outcomes of the high-level international conferences held in Yerevan from 2023 to 2025 in cooperation with European partners. She emphasized that, based on positive feedback from partner countries, these conferences have been institutionalized and will henceforth be held within the framework of the Armenian Platform for European Prosecutors’ Dialogue (APEPD).
The Prosecutors General of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Lithuania reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in developing prosecutors’ professional capacities, combating transnational crime, corruption, and money laundering, as well as pursuing the recovery of assets obtained through illegal means.
