Arrest warrant issued for former MP Ruben Hakobyan

Former Member of Parliament Ruben Hakobyan is under criminal investigation, authorities announced Friday, as officers served an arrest warrant for him.

Hakobyan announced on social media on Friday morning that he was being taken into custody.

Shortly afterwards, the Investigative Committee told Armenpress that Hakobyan is being detained as part of a criminal investigation.

Other details were not immediately available.

Hakobyan was an ARF member and served as a lawmaker in the early 1990s and early 2000s, and later served as an MP for the Heritage party in the 2010s.
