As part of the Armenia-Türkiye normalization process and with the support of the governments of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Türkiye, representatives of Armenia’s business community crossed the Armenia-Türkiye land border on June 2 and traveled to Kars to participate in a meeting with representatives of Türkiye’s business community.
The business communities of the two countries welcomed the favorable environment established for the launch of bilateral trade between Armenia and Türkiye. During the meeting, the business communities of the two countries, representing the food, beverage, bottled water, juice, fruit, tobacco, construction, tourism, floriculture and other sectors, highlighted the significant potential for cooperation in the field of trade between Armenia and Türkiye and exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation.
The participants in the meeting welcomed the completion in Türkiye of the necessary administrative procedures for the launch of direct trade between Armenia and Türkiye, which makes it possible, in the case of cargo transportation carried out through the territory of a third country, to indicate “Armenia/Türkiye” and vice versa as the final destination or country of origin.
In addition, they emphasized the importance of granting Armenian goods access to the Akhalkalaki (Georgia)-Kars (Türkiye) railway, which will create new opportunities for bilateral and regional trade.
