Speaker of Parliament, Latvian president discuss bilateral ties and Armenia–EU agenda

Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan held a meeting on May 7 in Yerevan with visiting President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.

According to a readout issued by the parliament’s press service, Speaker Simonyan expressed gratitude to the Latvian President for visiting Armenia during “these historic days” and for supporting the country’s democratic processes.

The President of Latvia, in turn, expressed gratitude for the warm reception, noting that he is “pleased to be in Armenia, a country that has chosen the path of reforms and democratic development,” according to the readout.

The discussions focused on issues related to both bilateral relations and the Armenia–EU agenda, as well as democratic reforms underway in Armenia.

Regional developments and other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

The President of Latvia, accompanied by the Speaker, also observed the work of ongoing parliamentary sessions.
