OSCE CiO appoints Armenian legislator to head Hungary election observer mission

Armenian Member of Parliament Sargis Khandanyan, representing the ruling Civil Contract faction and chairing the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, has been appointed by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office as the head of the international observer mission for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Hungary.

Khandanyan will coordinate the work of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the PACE, and OSCE/ODIHR short-term observation missions, the Armenian Parliament’s press service said in a statement.

During his visit to Hungary from March 24 to 26, Sargis Khandanyan held meetings with representatives of the state institutions involved in the electoral process, political parties participating in the elections, members of the Hungarian Parliament and Government, civil society and media representatives, as well as the OSCE/ODIHR long-term observation mission team.

During these meetings, Khandanyan familiarized himself with the preparations for the elections and the ongoing campaign.

Parliamentary elections in Hungary are scheduled to take place on April 12.
