Armenia’s diplomatic service bodies are maintaining contact with all 170 Armenian citizens currently in the United Arab Emirates, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, 190 Armenian citizens were transported from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Muscat over three days.
“In the UAE — in Abu Dhabi and Dubai — Armenian diplomatic missions collected data on citizens wishing to return to Armenia via Oman and provided transportation to Muscat Airport by free buses,” the statement said.
According to the ministry, 94 Armenian citizens were transported to Muscat on March 4, 58 on March 5, and 38 on March 6.
“As a result, over the course of three days, 70 and 120 Armenian citizens were transported from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Muscat respectively, bringing the total to 190,” the statement said.
Local authorities in Dubai provided a police escort, while some registered citizens chose to remain in the city at that time.
“At the moment, the diplomatic service bodies of the Republic of Armenia in the UAE have collected data on all 170 Armenian citizens remaining there, and contact is being maintained with them individually or in groups,” the ministry said, adding that the number includes 30 Armenian students in Abu Dhabi.
The ministry also said that the Consulate General of Armenia in Dubai has been involved in discussions to assist citizens who missed flights through no fault of their own and faced problems in some Dubai hotels.
Relevant information has also been provided to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the statement added.
