The Azerbaijani public has a generally positive attitude toward the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, Chairman of the South Caucasus Research Center Farhad Mammadov said.
Speaking at a press conference dedicated to the third conference of the “Bridge of Peace” initiative, Mammadov noted that the more information is provided about the project, the better the public will understand its advantages.
Referring to public sentiment in Azerbaijan, he stressed that the implementation of the project is important for Baku.
According to Mammadov, ensuring a connection with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is of particular significance for Azerbaijan.
In this regard, he said, the Azerbaijani government has carried out extensive infrastructure work.
“The construction of the railway to the Armenian border will be completed in the middle of this year, and it is important that it continues through the territory of the Republic of Armenia,” he stated.
Mammadov added that the implementation of the TRIPP project would help address several issues, including ensuring connectivity between Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, expanding international cargo transportation, creating a basis for economic development and job creation, and contributing to a common security system.
