Armenia set to begin preparations for 2027 European gymnastics championships

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan chaired the first session of the interdepartmental commission in charge of organizing the 2027 Senior European Championships in Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics in Yerevan.
The Commission’s Secretary and Deputy Minister Hasmik Avagyan, the ministry’s Secretary General Hasmik Hakobyan, Gymnastics Federation President Gagik Vanoyan, and other officials and representatives of sports organizations took part in the meeting.
The ministry said in a readout that a number of issues related to the organization of the championship were discussed. In particular, the procedures for forming the steering committee with the involvement of sector specialists were presented, as well as the process of acquiring competition equipment in accordance with the requirements set by the international federation. In this context, the importance of equipping the new sports school named after Albert Azaryan with similar equipment was emphasized, which will make it possible to hold competitions in line with international standards and ensure a high level of athlete preparedness. Issues related to broadcasting the competition were also discussed.
“While preparing for the 2027 European Championship, we have a large-scale workload ahead. We need to unite our efforts to properly organize the championship,” said Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, summarizing the meeting.
She stressed the importance of systematically organizing processes, strictly adhering to established deadlines, and fully meeting the standards of the international federation, noting that the quality of work depends on the effective cooperation of the relevant stakeholders.
