The past year has been significant for Armenian-Chinese bilateral relations, with economic and practical cooperation, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties entering a new stage of development, Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Li Xinwei said at a ceremonial reception hosted at the Chinese Embassy in Armenia on the occasion of the Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival.
He recalled that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited China to participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tianjin, as well as the military parade held on September 3, during which a historic meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping took place.
According to the ambassador, the two leaders jointly announced the establishment of a strategic partnership, opening a new era in the development of relations between the two countries.
Li Xinwei noted that a number of projects are progressing successfully within the framework of Armenian-Chinese cooperation, including the North-South highway, solar power plants, and the construction of a new pavilion for Public Television.
Ambassador Li Xinwei also highlighted that the frequency of Urumqi–Yerevan flights has increased to three times a week. According to him, the number of tourists visiting Armenia from China has risen by 40 percent.
“Armenians' interest in learning Chinese continues to grow, and the friendly relations between the peoples of our two countries are being further strengthened,” he said.
The ceremonial reception concluded with a festive concert program dedicated to the Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival.
