New Iranian ambassador presents credentials to President Khachaturyan

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan, the Presidential Office said in a statement.
President Khachaturyan congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and expressed hope that his tenure would contribute to the further strengthening and development of Armenian-Iranian relations. He emphasized the traditionally friendly ties between the two countries and noted the expansion of bilateral cooperation in recent years.
The ambassador thanked the president for the warm reception, highlighting the positive attitude he has experienced since arriving in Armenia, which he said reflects the friendly relations between the two peoples.
The meeting addressed the multifaceted cooperation between Armenia and Iran, as well as opportunities for its further development. The sides discussed the implementation of regional programs and the need to make full use of existing potential.
Views were also exchanged on regional developments. The ambassador reiterated Iran’s support for efforts to establish lasting peace and security in the region, as well as Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative.
The parties also discussed prospects for deepening cooperation in high technologies, infrastructure and energy, including the implementation of joint projects, reaffirming their mutual interest in consistently developing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation into new areas.
