The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, stated that Russia has consistently sought a political and diplomatic settlement of the Karabakh conflict. According to Armenpress' Moscow correspondent,  during the weekly briefing, Zakharova noted that the Russian side considers it appropriate to present its assessment regarding the published documents,

“The published UN and OSCE documents, the development and adoption of which Russia actively contributed to, confirm that for three decades our country, as a mediator and co-chair of the Minsk Group, has consistently sought a political and diplomatic settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Zakharova said.

She added that Russia’s approach had always been based on balancing two main principles: respect for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and ensuring the rights and interests of the Karabakh population in accordance with internationally recognized norms and principles.

The Government of the Republic of Armenia published several documents on the Karabakh settlement negotiation process on December 2.
