The European Union will provide financial support to Armenia to combat disinformation ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said.
“We are providing €5 million in cooperation funding for the Eastern Partnership region, including Armenia, to ensure the fight against disinformation ahead of the elections,” Kos said at a joint press conference with Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan and EU top diplomat Kaja Kallas.
The EU Commissioner for Enlargement added that “democracy is under threat” in various places, and Armenia can rely on EU support in this regard.
“We need to work on combating disinformation and supporting civil society and the media to prevent pressures in this area,” the Commissioner said.
