Armenia’s EU accession law ‘very encouraging,’ says Commissioner Marta Kos

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos has described the EU accession law adopted by the Armenian parliament as “very encouraging.”
Commissioner Kos was asked by Armenpress in Brussels about the EU’s position on the Armenian law and whether there have been any signals from Armenia regarding a possible official membership bid.
“This decision, we evaluate it as very encouraging, also because it is an expression of the will of the people of Armenia. For the process to start, Armenia would have to apply for candidate status, which hasn't been done yet, and of course the member states would have to give a green light. So, we will see then what will happen. Even if this has not happened, and we have not been discussing these dates, whatever we do now can also contribute to the European future. If I speak about the European future, it's not only about membership,” Commissioner Kos said.
