Armenian, Azerbaijani parliamentarians hold bilateral talks in Istanbul

Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations held a bilateral meeting in Istanbul, Türkiye, on November 18 as part of the 23rd Autumn Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

The meeting took place based on the agreement reached during discussions between the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Sahiba Gafarova, on October 21 in Geneva, the Armenian parliament’s press service said in a statement.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the positive role of the Washington Summit and exchanged views on the agreements reached, the next steps aimed at strengthening peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the importance of parliamentary support in both countries for the process.

They also discussed the role of the parliaments in implementing confidence-building measures between the two countries. Both sides highlighted the importance of constructive dialogue among parliamentarians within international organizations.

The Armenian parliamentary delegation was led by MP Sargis Khandanyan, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Armenian Parliament.
