Prime Minister outlines sequence of steps for implementing TRIPP

The first step for implementing the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project in Armenia is to establish a written regulatory framework, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Friday.

“I want to remind you that the first phase of establishing this foundation is the Washington Declaration, which outlines the overall framework. Next, a joint enterprise will be created by Armenia and the United States, with a board of directors that will manage it. The board will include representatives from both Armenia and the United States; of course, the distribution on the board will also depend on shareholdings, which are currently under discussion. However, it is important to note that Armenia will have decisive voting rights on matters of strategic significance,” Pashinyan said during the Crossroads of Peace: Advancing Regional Connectivity and Cooperation international conference organized by Civil Contract Party and Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the project will consist of several components—railway, power transmission lines, pipelines, cables, and transportation links—but they will not all be located in the same place.

“In the case of the railway, it can be stated with certainty where it will run. This is our southern railway, which existed during the Soviet era, roughly along the Nrnadzor-Karchevan section, as indicated in the Crossroads of Peace project. Practically, it is not feasible to have the railway in any other location,” the Prime Minister said.

The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is a connectivity project in Armenia envisaged under the U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani joint declaration signed in Washington, D.C. The project is expected to unlock strategic economic opportunities, creating long-term benefits by promoting infrastructure investment and enhancing regional connectivity. TRIPP is part of the Crossroads of Peace project.
