Pashinyan meets representatives of Gituzh initiative

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received members of the “Gituzh” initiative at the Government, his office said in a press release.

Congratulating those present on World Science Day, the Prime Minister emphasized the meeting as a good opportunity to review the outcomes of the Government’s science policies in recent years and outline future tasks.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan noted that the ministry had worked closely with the “Gituzh” initiative in previous years, describing that period as “landmark.” She added that the Law “On Higher Education and Science,” adopted by the National Assembly and effective since October 20, creates new institutional opportunities for the development of science. According to the minister, the Strategy for the Development of Science for the next five years is currently open for public discussion.

Tigran Shahverdyan, a member of the “Gituzh” initiative, thanked the Prime Minister for the meeting, noting that the initiative unites 202 technology companies and 24 business associations. He said the goal is to contribute to the development of Armenia's science and technology sector in cooperation with the Government.

The meeting focused on state policy issues related to targeted scientific research and technological development.

Prime Minister Pashinyan suggested that members of the “Gituzh” initiative continue their cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the Science Committee and submit relevant proposals. He emphasized that the Government is ready to allocate separate funding from the state budget for scientific programs that are mature and ready for practical implementation.
