Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy released from prison on bail

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will be released from prison later Monday after three weeks behind bars, after an appeals court approved the former French leader's request for release.

Sarkozy has been imprisoned in La Santé prison in Paris since October 21, days after he was found guilty of allowing "close associates" and "unofficial intermediaries" to try to obtain funds from Moammar Gadhafi's regime in Libya for his 2007 presidential run.

Sarkozy appealed the decision and continues to deny any wrongdoing, the Telegraph reports.
