The Ministry of Environment will be allocated AMD 15.358 billion from the state budget for 2026, which is AMD 812 million more than last year’s allocation, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan told lawmakers on Friday.

“We have currently allocated AMD 1 billion for the COP-17 conference, but a much larger amount will be needed. That money is in the reserve fund, and during the year we will make the allocations once all the details become clear to us,” the minister said at a joint parliamentary committee meeting on the 2026 state budget bill.

The 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) will be hosted in Armenia in October 2026.
