EWF 2025 European Junior & U23 Championships: Armenian athletes on winning streak

Armenian weightlifter Tigran Karapetyan won gold in the men’s 71 kg junior category at the EWF 2025 European Junior & U23 Championships in Durrës, Albania, marking the Armenian team’s third gold medal of the tournament.

In the snatch event, Karapetyan successfully lifted 131 kg, 136 kg, and finally 145 kg — setting a new European record with his last attempt and placing first in the event, the Armenian weightlifting federation reported. 

In the clean and jerk, he lifted 166 kg, 172 kg, and 176 kg, once again setting a new European record.

With a total of 321 kg, Tigran Karapetyan was crowned European champion.

Meanwhile, Narek Grigoryan won silver in the same weight category.

Grigoryan successfully lifted 131 kg, 136 kg, and 143 kg in the snatch event. In the clean and jerk, he lifted 166 kg and then 175 kg, setting another European record and placing second in this event as well.

Grigoryan won silver with a total of 318 kg.
