Executive Secretary Robert Floyd highlights Armenia’s steadfast support for CTBTO activities

Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has received Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Dr. Robert Floyd.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan welcomed Dr. Robert Floyd’s visit to Armenia and praised the important work of the organization, which is dedicated to the global ban on nuclear testing and the strengthening of international security.
The President recalled that Armenia was among the first countries to join the initiative to establish the organization and, in 1996, was again among the first to sign the treaty, the President’s Office said in a press release.
The President emphasized that Armenia has consistently supported the organization’s goals and initiatives and expressed confidence that the cooperation would continue in the same effective and constructive manner.
Dr. Robert Floyd thanked the President for the warm welcome and highlighted his appreciation for Armenia’s steadfast support of the CTBTO’s activities. He noted that he was pleased to visit Armenia again and to discuss new opportunities for expanding cooperation.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a range of issues related to nuclear security and the maintenance of global stability. They also addressed the universal importance of the nuclear-test ban, as well as mechanisms for its monitoring and prevention. Both sides stressed the significance of such initiatives in promoting global peace, sustainable development, and regional security.
