Campaigning period kicks off for Vagharshapat City Council elections

The campaign period for the City Council elections in Vagharshapat officially began on October 22 and will continue until November 14 at midnight.

Eight political parties and alliances will participate in the elections, each assigned the following ballot numbers:

1) “Victory” Alliance of Parties, composed of the "Forward" and "Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF Dashnaktsutyun)" parties (led by Sevak Khachatryan)
2) "Pan-Armenian Front" Party (led by Artyom Simonyan)
3) "Republic" Party (led by Harutyun Mkrtchyan)
4) "Mother Armenia" National Democratic Party (led by Grisha Harutyunyan)
5) "Free Democrats" Party (led by Vahram Azatyan)
6) "Heritage" Party (led by Arkadi Paytyan)
7) "Civil Contract" Party (led by Argishti Mekhakyan)
8) "Homeland" Party (led by Khachik Manukyan)


To cover the elections in the city colloquially known as Etchmiatsin, 19 media outlets have been accredited by the Central Electoral Commission, and one observer organization has been registered to monitor the process.

70,022 people are eligible to vote in the November 16 election, according to the Central Electoral Commission. 47 polling stations will be open across the community.
