CIS leaders establish CIS Plus platform, grant observer status to SCO

The leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have created the CIS Plus platform and granted observer status to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin told reporters, according to TASS. 

"Today, the heads of state approved a decision to establish a new platform named CIS Plus and grant CIS observer status to the SCO," TASS quoted him as saying following a CIS summit in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe, attended by leaders of CIS member states, including Armenia. 

"We are confident that these decisions will strengthen our organization’s international activities and enhance its image and representation on the global stage," the top diplomat added.
