Türkiye will begin “taking steps” to normalize relations with Armenia once the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace agreement is signed, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
He made the remarks during a forum at the Institute of International Affairs (IAI) think tank in Rome, Italy, according to the Turkish Anadolu news agency.
“The document signed in Washington is not the final one; the final signing of the document is expected in the first half of 2026,” Anadolu quoted him as saying.
Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed the peace agreement earlier in August.
