Armenia is interested in importing liquefied gas from Iran - Minister

Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received Iran's Deputy Minister of Petroleum Mohammad Sadegh Azimifar on Wednesday.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Ministers Narek Hovakimyan and Edgar Zakaryan, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani, and Armenian Trade Attaché to Iran Hayk Nazaryan, the ministry said in a readout.

At the meeting, Gevorg Papoyan emphasized the importance of strengthening economic cooperation between Armenia and Iran. He noted that Armenia is interested in importing high-quality, competitively priced Iranian liquefied gas, which “could become the foundation of a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership while also reinforcing the country’s energy security.”

The sides also discussed opportunities for further cooperation, including expanding trade in oil and oil products, developing infrastructure for supplying liquefied and natural gas, joint investments in the energy sector, and the effective use of regional transport and logistics hubs ("North-South," "Crossroads of Peace").
