Russia describes initialing of Armenian-Azeri peace treaty as ‘contribution to strengthening regional peace’

Russia has expressed ‘cautious optimism’ about the initialing of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement.

“Russia views the initialed agreement between Yerevan and Baku with cautious optimism,” the Russian TASS state news agency quoted Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk as saying. “It is a contribution to strengthening peace in the region.”

Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed the peace agreement on August 8 in Washington, D.C.
