Norway ready to provide Ukraine security guarantees

Norway is prepared to take part in providing security guarantees for Ukraine but has yet to determine its specific contribution, Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said Tuesday.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Nordic and Canadian counterparts, Eide stressed that guarantees would only take effect once a ceasefire and peace agreement are in place, Baha News reported. "If it is violated, security guarantees will come into force. So security guarantees are not entering into war as it is today, but preventing its resumption," he explained.
