Armenia establishes exclusive partnership with US with Washington accords

Armenia and Azerbaijan are committing to stop “all fighting forever” and open up commerce and travel and respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, US President Donald Trump announced during the signing of the Armenian-Azerbaijani-United States joint declaration in Washington, D.C.
“I want to congratulate these two visionary people, Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Aliyev for coming to Washington to sign this momentous joint declaration, a tremendously important document,” Trump said.
“For more than 35 years Armenia and Azerbaijan fought a bitter conflict that resulted in tremendous suffering for both nations, many tried to find a resolution, including the EU, the Russians worked very hard, never happened…”
“But with this accord we have finally succeeded in making peace, we just left the Oval Office where we signed voluminous documents and very important elements to the agreement. Armenia and Azerbaijan are committing to stop all fighting forever, open up commerce travel and diplomatic relations and respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
He said he was honored that the two countries have decided to name the transit route the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).
He said the Declaration establishes the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, a special transit area which will fully respect Armenia’s sovereignty and allow Armenia and Azerbaijan to live and work together.
“Armenia is also creating an exclusive partnership with the US, to develop this corridor, which could extend to up to 99 years,” Trump added, emphasizing that it will attract investments.
“We anticipate significant infrastructure development by American companies, they are very anxious to get in, they are gonna spend a lot of money,” Trump said.
Additionally, Trump said the US is signing a bilateral agreement, to expand cooperation in energy, trade, technology and AI.
Trump said he has decided to lift the US restrictions on defense cooperation with Azerbaijan.
