Government clarifies decision pertaining to shares in telecommunications operator

The Armenian government has released a statement clarifying the August 7 Cabinet meeting decision authorizing the sale of its shares in a major telecommunications operator.

The government said the decision pertained to authorizing the signing of a sale option contract with Viva Armenia shareholder Fedilco Group Limited. The contract gives the government the right (and not an obligation) to sell its shares at any moment until May 15, 2028. 

Whether or not the government will use its right to sell its shares worth 50 million dollars will be decided by the government according to expediency, the statement added.
