US takes into account possible consequences of new sanctions against Russia

The US has taken into account all possible negative consequences from the introduction of secondary sanctions against Russia and its trading partners, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce has said.

“The President [of the United States Donald Trump] does not make decisions on the fly. Obviously, this issue has been considered from the very beginning, and we are ready to do everything necessary," Bruce said at a press briefing when asked on the impact of potential secondary sanctions, including possible counterproductivity to US goals.

U.S. President Donald Trump set a new deadline on Monday of 10 or 12 days for Russia to make progress toward ending the war in Ukraine or face consequences. Trump has threatened sanctions on both Russia and buyers of its exports unless progress is made.
