Deputy FM, Swedish State Secretary discuss regional and international issues

On July 29, within the framework of a working visit to New York, Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, held a meeting with Dag Hartelius, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden.

According to a press release issued by the ministry, during the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of bilateral relations between Armenia and Sweden, based on shared values and democracy. The willingness to enhance cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest has been reaffirmed, including cybersecurity, combating disinformation, and the field of nuclear energy.

Deputy Minister Vahan Kostanyan presented to his counterpart the current state of cooperation in Armenia-EU relations, emphasizing the Armenian government’s readiness to further deepen relations with the EU. In this context, the importance of dialogue within the framework of the Armenia-Nordic-Baltic countries format was underlined.

During the meeting current regional and international developments have also been touched upon. The Deputy Minister briefed Dag Hartelius on the current situation regarding the Armenia-Türkiye and Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization processes.
