Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that his country must immediately improve relations with neighbors, including Armenia, emphasizing that stronger regional ties can help the Islamic Republic overcome Western sanctions, IRNA news agency reported.

The President made the remarks during a meeting with legislators at the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee.

“If we strengthen neighborly relations the sanctions will become ineffective. Today more than ever we must improve our ties with neighboring and regional states,” IRNA quoted the Iranian President as saying.

He said that Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkiye, Iraq and Iran’s southern neighbors have "significant potential" for cooperation, which must be utilized for common interests.
