An Iranian scholar believes that the relationship between Armenia and Iran must be based on a "national security document".

University of Tehran Professor Mohammad Jafar Javadi Arjmand made the remarks at a joint discussion organized by IRNA news agency and the University of Tehran titled Iran-Armenia Relations: Transition to New Regional and Global Order.

“Countries develop their relations with other countries on the basis of a national security document, but during the past several decades we’ve been developing relations with Armenia based on current issues,” IRNA quoted the professor as saying.

He said Iran ought to explore and identify the opportunities and challenges in enhancing its ties with neighbors, including Armenia.
