ENA staffers engaged in political collusions to be fired, says PM

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan vowed on Wednesday that staffers of the national electric utility (ENA) who are engaged in “political collusions” instead of fulfilling their duties will be fired from their positions in July.

Those who are coercing ENA employees to attend rallies will also be fired, he said.

“ENA staffers who are resisting these two groups and remain committed to their duties will not have any problems,” Pashinyan said.

He said that those who will get unlawfully fired by the current ENA executives for not submitting to their coercion will be reinstated later.

ENA is run by Tashir Group, a conglomerate owned by Russian-Armenian billionaire tycoon Samvel Karapetyan who is currently under criminal investigation for allegedly advocating an overthrow of government. Meanwhile, parliament is debating an emergency takeover of management of ENA for what authorities describe as mismanagement.
