EU vows continued support for Armenia

The EU is ready to deepen its partnership with Armenia, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said on June 30 in Yerevan.

“Armenia and the EU have never been as close as they are now,” she remarked at a joint press conference with Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan.

“Armenia has adopted a law launching the EU accession process, and we are ready to deepen our partnership,” Kallas added, referring to the EU bill. 

She noted that during her meeting with FM Mirzoyan, the two reached a political agreement on the partnership agenda, outlining priorities for economic development, security, and resilience.

“But our relations aren’t limited to the economy alone. We are also providing housing and psychosocial assistance to Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh,” Kallas said. The EU’s top diplomat further highlighted that the visa‑liberalization dialogue is progressing, underlining the importance of people‑to‑people contacts.

Kallas praised the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMA) for contributing to peace and stability in the South Caucasus. She visited EUMA headquarters on June 29.

The EU foreign policy chief emphasized that Armenia’s commitment to democratic principles is critically important.

“These values must be protected—especially in the face of hybrid threats, disinformation, and meddling in the country’s domestic affairs. The EU will stand by Armenia to help strengthen its resilience and safeguard shared values,” she concluded.
