The visit to China and talks provide a valuable opportunity to explore new horizons and examine ways to strengthen and expand economic ties, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a readout.

Minister Mirzoyan expressed gratitude for the invitation and the warm hospitality extended to him.

“This is my first official visit to China, and in fact, my first visit to your country. I am truly impressed by the wonderful Chinese civilization. Mr. Minister, it is interesting to note that I arrived on the Yerevan–Urumqi direct flight, which has been operating for several months now. I believe this is a tangible example of our growing ties, as well as a good opportunity to strengthen connections between our peoples and business communities.”

Mirzoyan highlighted that, if he was not mistaken, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 700 million US dollars.

“However, I am confident that this is not the full extent of our potential,” he added.

“More importantly, I believe this is an opportunity to become more understandable and predictable partners for one another, to explore how we can deepen our political dialogue, which, if I may say so, is already quite mature, and how we can bring our strategic relationship to a new level,” Mirzoyan said.

“We can also discuss our future cooperation on international platforms, and I am confident that in this context, we have many common interests. I can say that in many cases, our views and visions are closely aligned,” the Armenian Foreign Minister concluded.
