Armenia reiterates readiness to sign the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said on Thursday.
“Armenia is ready to sign the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, regardless of which city in the world it takes place in. The signing of the document [itself] is a priority for us,” Kostanyan told reporters when asked whether the sides have agreed on any particular venue for signing the deal.
Asked whether Armenia expected Turkiye to contribute to the normalization with Azerbaijan, Kostanyan said, “I think that the Turkish side has given rather positive public signals to Armenia and Azerbaijan over the past year that Ankara is interested to see relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan normalized and the respective document signed.”
Earlier in March, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to the terms of the peace treaty. Armenia announced readiness to sign the peace agreement as soon as possible, but Azerbaijan has been stalling the process ever since with preconditions.
