Russia has expressed hope that there will not be a renewed escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as the two countries are close to signing a peace treaty.
“We hope there won’t be an escalation,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, according to Russian media outlets. “The countries are very close to concluding work on the treaty, and we hope that this work will be finalized. This treaty is essential for creating an environment of stability and security in the region,” Peskov said.
He added that Russia is ready to support the signing of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty.
“We have repeatedly stated that, if needed, we are ready to contribute to that process,” he said.
