The Public Services Regulatory Commission has fined the Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC, the country’s electric utility, for violations of distribution network rules and retail commercial regulations. The utility is fined 10,000,000 drams.
The regulatory body said it conducted a monitoring earlier in February of 2025 and revealed that the utility had problems pertaining to the technical condition of meters, accuracy of measurement and consumer rights.
The company had to replace the commercial mechanical meters with automatic ones. Furthermore, it had to ensure automatic registration of monthly power consumption. The company failed to do so. It presented explanations and admitted failing to resolve the issues. Aside from having to pay a 10,000,000 fine, the utility has until December 31 to eliminate all such violations and pay additional fines in relevant cases.
